Since moving to Yellowknife in 2008, Laurie has truly enjoyed being part of this vibrant community. A graduate of Queen's University, she spent 20 years in banking and telecommunications, working on many broadband and telecommunications projects. In 2008 she joined the GNWT's Technology Service Centre and as Director, Laurie oversees the data centre operations, network and desktop support for GNWT staff in 33 communities.
Prior to coming to Yellowknife, Laurie was an active volunteer with Junior Achievement, Habitat for Humanity, CNIB, Youth Without Shelter and numerous local outreach initiatives. In Yellowknife, she became involved with Arctic Winter Games, Scouts Canada and the NWT Helpline. Laurie and her husband Bill have two adult daughters and recently purchased a home in Yellowknife. They enjoy boating, fishing, curling and golfing.
