The City of Gold: Celebrating 25 Years of the Yellowknife Community Foundation

YELLOWKNIFE (February 10, 2018) – Twenty-five years ago, the Yellowknife Community Foundation began with a simple concept – that people working together can make a difference.

From our humble beginnings in 1993, we have grown to inspire and help to build a healthy and resilient community.

In celebration of our 25th anniversary, we are proud to release our documentary ‘The City of Gold: Celebrating 25 Years of the Yellowknife Community Foundation’.

The documentary chronicles the history of the Foundation intertwined with the history of Yellowknife and features people, places and events that have helped shape and define our community.

“For over a year, we have been working on this documentary,” says Yellowknife Community Foundation President Bronwyn Watters. “With the help of the entire community including Artless Collective and Aerials North, the Legislative Assembly, Moose FM, the NWT Archives and Diavik Diamond Mine, we were able to bring our story to life in the most compelling way thanks to the creativity, and expertise of Alexander Legaree, the creator of this video.”

“We’re excited to share this documentary with the community and look forward to sharing our collective journey while looking beyond the horizon to what the next 25 years could bring.”
