In memory of Doug Ritchie
Established in 2015.
Doug Ritchie was a well-known and highly respected NWT environmental activist. He loved the NWT, the land and its people and wanted to make the North a better place for all of its residents. Doug passed away on January 10th, 2015 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Upon learning of the cancer diagnosis, Doug said that his passing was only the passing of the torch. He was tireless and continued right until his death to meet with people from all walks of life to inspire them to continue his environmental work. It is now up to us to continue his legacy.
The NWT Environmental Stewardship Fund was established as a way to honour Doug's memory and continue the good work to which Doug dedicated much of his life. The Fund will provide much needed funding for environmental advocacy in the NWT.
