Photographers

Check out the talented photographers whose work is exhibited in our 2025 / 2026 Yellowknife calendar. 

Jonny Vu, based in Yellowknife, is a multifaceted artist whose work spans music, filmmaking, and photography. In 2025, he released the single ‘Two Cents’.

Fran Hurcomb is a photographer and writer based in Yellowknife. She has spent decades capturing the landscapes, people, and everyday moments of life in the North.

Ali Buckland is from Yellowknife and pursues photography as a hobby. In 2025, one of her photos was featured at the Great North Photo Festival within the 30th anniversary Snowking’s Castle.

Originally from the Phillipines, James Galasinao love capturing the beauty of landscapes, the emotion in portraits, the rawness of wildlife, the energy of events, and the northern lights.

Sean Sinclair is a hobby photographer focused on capturing the wild charm of life in the North with a sharp eye and a deep respect for ancient rock and shifting light.

Born and raised in Yellowknife, Tommy Jorge is inspired by natural beauty, curious people, and the joy of capturing moments. When he’s not working with local businesses, he’s traveling the world, immersing himself in incredible cultures, and finding new ways to give back to the community that continues to inspire him.

Vincent Ret is based in Yellowknife and formerly owned VR Studios. While no longer running his photography business, he continues to pursue photography as a passion and creative outlet.

Mario Niranason is based in Yellowknife and owns Epic Studios. He is a photographer and videographer, and recently produced ‘Titende’, a documentary about Zimbabwean artist Munya Mataruse.

​Sarah Pruys is a photographer and journalist based in Yellowknife. She began her photography journey with a film camera in grade school.

Pat Kane is a visual storyteller based in Yellowknife. He focuses on issues important to Indigenous people, including the relationship between land and identity.

Michael Aide is a multidisciplinary creative based in Yellowknife, known for his work in photography, textiles, woodworking, and community-building. Michael brings a curious, hands-on approach to everything he does, including capturing Northern life and inspiring others to create along the way.
