Award: NWT Indigenous and Kitikmeot Inuit Leaders – Rio Tinto Diavik Community Scholarship Fund

Eligibility
Residency: Residents of the Northwest Territories or Kitikmeot region of Nunavut of at least twelve consecutive months
Field of Study: Pursuing post-secondary studies or trades educations in any field
Other Eligibility: Must be Indigenous

Recipients can receive a Rio Tinto Diavik Community Scholarship a maximum of twice in their lifetime.
Amount Available: $3,000

Application Process

Individuals interested in applying must create a profile on our scholarship application portal. Once your profile is created, you will need to complete our eligibility quiz and then submit an application for the student award. Applications will be made available during our scholarship intake season, every spring.

History of the Fund

Established in 2013 by Rio Tinto Diavik Diamond Mines Inc., this Fund was established to assist individuals pursuing a career in mining or resource development. In 2025, the Fund was restructured into 4 distinct streams. This is the stream for Indigenous residents of the Northwest Territories or Kitikmeot region of Nunavut.
