Award: Parsons’ Giant Mine Remediation Project (GMRP) Scholarship

Eligibility
Residency: Residents of N’Dilo, Dettah, Yellowknife, Behchokǫ̀, Łutsël K’é, Gamètì, Whatì, or Wekweètì of at least six consecutive months
Field of Study: Pursuing post-secondary studies in office administration, environmental sciences, geosciences, engineering, business administration, or training related to apprenticeships, construction management, project estimating, or project management.
Other Eligibility: Full-time Student

Priority will be given to members of the Tłı̨chǫ Nation, Yellowknives Dene First Nation, and the North Slave Métis Alliance..

Amount Available: 5 awards, $3,000 each

Application Process

Individuals interested in applying must create a profile on our scholarship application portal. Once your profile is created, you will need to complete our eligibility quiz and then submit an application for the student award. Applications will be made available during our scholarship intake season, every spring.

About the Fund

Since 2017, Parsons Inc. has served as the Main Construction Manager for the Giant Mine Remediation Project on behalf of the Government of Canada. Parsons Inc. is committed to supporting socio-economic development for Indigenous peoples in the Area of Contract by implementing a range of strategies aimed at building capacity within local communities. In 2017, Parsons Inc. launched a scholarship program to support students pursuing post-secondary education in fields related to the remediation of contaminated sites, including professional studies, apprenticeships, and technical training. To date, the program has supported nine Indigenous and Métis scholars in achieving their academic goals, and Parsons Inc. remains dedicated to supporting future scholars throughout the duration of the project.
