April/May 2023 - join our Board of Directors!

The YKCF is seeking expressions of interest from people who have the passion, capacity and enthusiasm to join our board and work collaboratively with other volunteers and our staff to advance the strategic goals of the Foundation.

The Yellowknife Community Foundation is a charitable organization that inspires and enables impactful giving in Yellowknife and the NWT. We strive to align donor interests and community needs through evidence-based grant-making, fundraising, strategic investment, public education and community relations. Through the generosity of people in our community, we pool resources to be a catalyst for sharing, supportive and connected communities.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Board terms begin/renew at the Annual General Meeting (May of each year) and directors are elected to serve 1-3 year terms.
  • The board of directors meets 10 times per year, and time commitments run on an average 3-7 hours per month.
  • Board members are expected to contribute to committees and other ad-hoc projects.
  • Currently, board and committee meetings are held both virtually and in-person.
  • New board members are expected to participate in 2-3 orientation sessions.

April 2023 - Join our Student Award Review Committee

We are looking for committee members to join our Student Award Review Committee!

Are you looking to get involved in our community? Are you interested in supporting Northern students? Then YKCF’s Student Award Review Committee may be a perfect fit for you.

Evaluators chosen will be tasked with working with our Board and Staff to evaluate each student award application.

The committee’s work will take place from approximately May 19th, 2023 to the first week of June 2023, depending on the volume of applications, and other considerations. A 1-hour orientation session will occur the week of May 8th for committee members to review our process for evaluation.

If you are 18 years of age or older, a resident of the NWT, and can commit to up to 10 hours of your time during a 3 weeks period in late May/early June, 2023, consider this opportunity to support Northern students and our student award program.
