About the Barb Bromley Fund for Seniors and Elders

Established in 2008, the purpose of the Barb Bromley Fund for Seniors and Elders is to support issues related to seniors and Elders such as housing, nursing and long-term care, hard of hearing, Alzheimers or similar dementias, and mobility.

Each year, organizations conducting activities in the Yellowknife, Dettah and N’Dilo areas are welcome to apply for a grant from the Barb Bromley Fund for Seniors and Elders. 

Application process

Organizations interested in applying must create an organizational profile on our application portal. Once your profile is created, you can submit a grant application to the Barb Bromley Fund for Seniors and Elders.

The Barb Bromley Fund for Seniors and Elders was established in 2008 in memory of Barbara Merial Bromley. 

The Barb Bromley Fund for Seniors and Elders is eligible for charitable organizations (organizations with a registered charitable number) conducting activities in the Yellowknife, Dettah and N’Dilo areas.

Organizations are eligible to re-apply for grants in successive years; however previous receipt does not guarantee future awards. 

For our 2024 intake, grant requests can be from $1,000 – $7000.

Please note that amount can vary year by year. 

Grants from the Barb Bromley Fund for Seniors and Elders support organizations working with seniors and Elders issues such as housing, nursing and long-term care, hard of hearing, Alzheimer’s or similar dementias, and mobility. 

Funding from the Barb Bromley Fund for Seniors and Elders can be allocated to a project or program that addresses identified needs. 

Grant applications can be submitted to the Barb Bromley Fund for Seniors and Elders when the application portal opens. In 2024, the application portal opens in early June. Apply using the link on our website.

Applications are reviewed by our Grants Committee and Fund Advisors.

28 July 2024 at 11.59pm MST: All applications due via grant portal found on the Yellowknife Community Foundation website.

July and August 2024: Yellowknife Community Foundation staff and Grants Committee members conduct due diligence checks on all applications and undertake a review process. As a normal part of our review process, you may hear from us with questions about your application. We appreciate your time in providing clarity.

Early September 2024: Applicants are notified. Every applicant will receive notification regardless of funding decision.
