The Timothy Henderson Memorial Fund was created in 2015, after the heartbreaking loss of Timothy Henderson.
Timothy was born and raised in Yellowknife. He was a talented artist who played many instruments and was deeply involved in the arts. He was known for his creativity, kindness, and the impact he had on those around him.
Living with ADHD and Asperger’s, Timothy faced mental health challenges. Art was his way of coping. Even though he reached out for help more than once, he wasn’t able to get the consistent support he needed. His parents now share his story to push for better mental health services for youth.
This fund supports the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre to help young people like Timothy access the arts, and giving them a creative outlet and a way to cope, connect, and grow.
The arts help all of us. They inspire creativity, build confidence, and give people of all ages a safe way to express themselves.
