The Yellowknife Community Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of the George Cleary Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Created by the Cleary family, the scholarship is intended to encourage Indigenous residents and Sahtu beneficiaries of the Northwest Territories to pursue a post-secondary or trades educations, giving them the opportunity to help their communities grow and prosper.

Quote by Robin Greig, President of the Yellowknife Community Foundation – “We are very pleased to be supporting the development of this new scholarship supporting the development of the next generation of Indigenous leaders in the Northwest Territories.  George Cleary was an inspired leader.  We hope that this new scholarship will encourage others to follow in his footsteps.”

Quote by the Cleary family – “A humble family man and well respected, George has been recognized as a great leader who never forgot who he was serving.  My family is very pleased to support the launch of this new scholarship in his name to encourage others and acknowledge his legacy”.

Scholarship applications are now being accepted for the George Cleary Memorial Scholarship on the Foundation’s website.

The Yellowknife Community Foundation was formed in 1993 to provide interested individuals and organizations with a means of supporting projects in our community for the enduring future. The Foundation is not singularly dedicated to any specific area of support. It embodies a simple concept – that people working together can make a difference.
