The Yellowknife Community Foundation has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.

Occurring this year on 28 November, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

The Yellowknife Community Foundation has joined #GivingTuesday to help raise funds for the Yellowknife Community Fund that was established in 1993 to assist the Foundation with addressing its mandate in a wide range of areas. As such, grant requests will be considered for projects in or around Yellowknife which:

  • advance the welfare of the needy and alleviate human suffering and poverty;
  • assist and promote arts and cultural activities, sport, recreation and community development;
  • advance education;
  • assist and advance the provision of medical services; and
  • assist and advance other community activities or facilities of a charitable nature.
