Yellowknife Community Foundation and NWT Soccer Announce The United Soccer Coaching Fund

TheYellowknife Community Foundation and the NWT Soccer Association on behalf ofthe Yellowknife United Soccer Club are pleased to announce the creation of theUnited Soccer Coaching Fund established to support the development of soccer coachingin the Northwest Territories. VivianHansen, one of the founders of the United Soccer Club which operated inYellowknife from 1990 to 2017 said “We hope this scholarship will help thoseathletes who are interested in coaching and furthering their education. We are not looking for the next ChristineSinclair or Ronaldo but rather a young person who is interested in coaching andmentoring the next generation of soccer players in the Northwest Territories.” BronwynWatters, President of the Yellowknife Community Foundation said, “We are verypleased to work with NWT Soccer on behalf of the United Soccer Club toestablish this new scholarship. Support for coaches and leaders in sport isvery important to improving the quality of soccer programs and the tremendousbenefits all participants receive from playing ‘the beautiful game’. The United SoccerCoaching Fund will begin receiving applications in March of 2019. Individualsseeking scholarships are encouraged to go to the Foundation’s website to reviewthe application process. TheYellowknife Community Foundation was formed in 1993 to provide interestedindividuals and organizations with a means of supporting projects in ourcommunity for the enduring future. The Foundation is not singularly dedicatedto any specific area of support. It embodies a simple concept – that peopleworking together can make a difference.
