Yellowknife Community Foundation and Rio Tinto Diavik Diamond Mine Announce Expanded Scholarships for Women

TheYellowknife Community Foundation and Rio Tinto Diavik Diamond Mine are pleasedto announce the expansion of the Rio Tinto Diavik Diamond Mine CommunityScholarship to include new support for women pursuing education opportunitiesin Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Originallyestablished in 2013, this Fund was established to assist individuals pursuing acareer in mining or resource development. Winter Bailey of Rio Tinto DiavikDiamond Mines said, “We are committed to developing employment opportunitiesfor women in the mineral industry and are thrilled to support womenparticipating in STEM education”. BronwynWatters, President of the Yellowknife Community Foundation said, “The expansionof this scholarship fund to include support for women in STEM programs is agreat step forward in encouraging women to seek career opportunities innon-traditional occupations and expand their leadership roles in relatedindustries.” Applicationsfor the Rio Tinto Diavik Diamond Mine Community Scholarships begin in March of2019.
