About the Get Her Elected Fund

This fund is established to provide support for female candidates for political office. Candidates may be involved in an election for Municipal, Band, Regional, Territorial or Federal representatives.

Grants from the Get Her Elected Fund may only be awarded to non-partisan organizations working to promote and establish greater representation of women in political leadership.

Grants may be used to support or provide workshops, training, networking, mentoring, or similar types of activities related to political candidates and elections.

Application process

Organizations interested in applying must create an organizational profile on our application portal. Once your profile is created, you can submit an application to the Get Her Elected Fund.

Applicants must be:

  1. A non-partisan organization operating in the NWT.
  2. Working to attract, support and develop female candidates for political office in the NWT at the Band Council, Municipal Council, Regional Government, Territorial Government or Federal Parliament.

The fund is established to provide support for female candidates for political office via workshops, training, networking, mentoring, or similar types of activities related to political candidates and elections.

Applications can be submitted to the Get Her Elected Fund when the application portal opens. In 2024, the application portal opens in early June. Please use the link on our website to apply.

Please note that funding amounts vary year by year. 

Applications are reviewed by our Grants Committee and Fund Advisors.

31 July 2024 at 11.59pm MST: All applications due via grant portal found on the Yellowknife Community Foundation website.

July and August 2024: Yellowknife Community Foundation staff and Grants Committee members conduct due diligence checks on all applications and undertake a review process. As a normal part of our review process, you may hear from us with questions about your application. We appreciate your time in providing clarity.

September 2024: Applicants are notified. Every applicant will receive notification regardless of funding decision.
